Jaco Costa Rica is one of the most famous tourist beach, plus it's a perfect place with excellent conditions for surfing.

It is located north of Puntarenas at least 1 hour from the international airport Juan Santa Maria.

Jaco Beach Costa Rica has a good reputation for nightlife, but the fun is good and safe addition to the people are kind, friendly and pleasant.

Tourists from all over the world come to Jaco to enjoy its good waves, clean water, its diversity of scenery and nightlife.

In Jaco you will find accommodations to suit every budget, as well as good food, plenty of restaurants and a number of local sodas (places where you can find typical food for good prices, ask the locals, they can help you to find out the best soda in town) and stores. There are also plenty of tour operators in town that arrange everything horseback rides tours on the beach, surf lessons, zip line tours, Rain Forest Aerial Trams, A.T.V., some excellent off shore sport fishing and sea kayaking.

A major point of attraction is the Carara Biological Reserve, located just 9.3 miles (15 km) north of Jaco. It is a protected area made up of dry forest and rainforest, where you can observe varied species of flora and fauna.

In the surrounding areas, Playa Herradura, just 4.4 miles (7 km) north, provides a more tranquil environment than Playa de Jaco. Also, just south of Jaco is Playa Hermosa, a quieter 6 mile away from Jaco is a beautiful black sand beach loved by surfers. The Playa Hermosa Wildlife Refuge (Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Playa Hermosa) is the beach of choice for the Olive Ridley sea turtles that come ashore to nest every year. If a hotel with an undisturbed location is what you desire, these surrounding beach towns are recommended

The Tarcoles River (RioTarcoles) is an amazing place to witness the American crocodile close up. Boat tours are available to see the crocodiles, many of which grow to be several meters in length! At the mouth of the Tarcoles, the Guacalillo mangrove plays a vital role for the survival of many species of wildlife that may be viewed here.

Manuel Antonio National Park is within driving distance of Jaco as it sits majestically, 43 miles (69 km) to the south.

Easily accessible, Playa Jaco is about 2.5 miles, you can drive a bike or rent either a car or motorcycle to see the city, the main street is where you will find most of the bars, restaurants and stores. The areas to the north and south of Jaco are some of the most picturesque and cleanest, with stunningly gorgeous panoramic ocean views.

Much like Costa Rica's metropolitan areas, Jaco's offers most services, such as a post office, health center and branches of major banks.

You need to be careful about swimming there, as riptides are quite common along the beach shore.

There are, however, concerns in Jaco about drugs, crime and prostitution. Being aware of your surroundings and using common sense should help you to avoid any undesirable situations.
